Indulgences for Holy Souls
From midday on 1st November until midnight on the 2nd November, a plenary (that is to say, “full”) indulgence for the dead may be gained by visiting a Church and praying the Our Father and the Creed. Also, from 1st to 8th November a plenary indulgence may be gained by visiting a cemetery and praying for the dead. (To gain a plenary indulgence, one must go to Confession and pray an Our Father and Hail Mary for the Pope’s intentions).
Needless to say, lesser indulgences for the dead may be gained merely by praying anytime, anywhere.
