Holy Cross Parish has an established Safeguarding Children policy and procedure in accordance with official Diocesan policy.
Our Parish is also happy to inform of its Safeguarding Children Committee which oversees the implementation and updating of our procedures in accordance with National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church in Ireland (NBSCCCI). Michelle Barrett (087/6951086) is the Chairperson of this Committee. Our Policy and procedures are available to the public in the sacristy of Holy Cross Church and the relevant details and contact persons are displayed in the porch of our Parish Church.
Cloyne Diocese Safeguarding Children Policy Statement
The Diocese of Cloyne recognises and uphold the dignity and rights of all children and young people and is committed to ensuring their safety and well being. The Diocese values and encourages the participation of children and young people in all parish liturgies and in all activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual and social development.
Above all, the Diocese recognises the need to protect children and young people and aims to do this in a way that promotes their human dignity, integrity and worth as children of God.
The Diocese recognises that, while child protection is primarily the responsibility of Parents, it is indeed everyone’s responsibility. In particular, all involved in working with children and young people have a special duty of care towards them.
The Diocese has committed itself to putting procedures in place through which this care is put into effect.
