Holy Cross Parish Choir
Our Parish Choir sings at the 6.30pm Vigil Mass every Saturday and special liturgical times during the year in Holy Cross Church, Charleville. They grace the congregation with a wide repertoire of both traditional and contemporary hymns. Under the leadership and guidance of Maura McAuliffe, St. Augustine’s perennial phrase rings true: “Whoever sings, prays twice”. One of our members, Kevin Owens (left corner back in photo), received the Papal honor Benemerenti Medal for his many years service to music and singing in Charleville Parish.

Charleville Parish Folk Choir
The Folk Choir musically animates our Monthly Taizé Mass, on the second Sunday of every month at 7pm and also plays an instrumental part in harmonising for the various Children’s liturgies such as the ‘Do This in Memory’ Programme, as well as the Confirmation and First Holy Communion ceremonies. Under Sr. Martina Holmes’ guidance, they are always enthusiastic to get involved in the many other pastoral and liturgical initiatives in the course of the year and are very much appreciated by the whole Parish.

Bernadette Creagh-Dick – Soloist Cantor
Bernadette was baptised and confirmed in this Holy Cross Church and began singing in the local choir at the age of 10 – over which time she became soloist and, 50 years on, continues to be soloist at the 12.00 noon Mass each Sunday. Recently she was awarded the Benemerenti Medal from Pope Francis for outstanding service of singing in Holy Cross Church, Charleville. Her two grandchildren, Clara and Sophie, have joined her in contributing to the liturgy by singing and playing violins.
