The Feast of St Patrick is a Holy Day of Obligation and will be celebrated on Saturday next, 17th March. Vigil Mass on Friday at 6.30p.m. and Mass at 10a.m. and 12 noon on Saturday. The Saturday evening vigil Mass will be celebrated as the 4th Sunday of Lent. This is an occasion when we think of our Emigrants and remember them in our prayers. The collection on St. Patrick’s Day goes entirely towards supporting the Irish abroad and people are asked to be as generous as possible.
As we approach the Feast of St Patrick, our National Patron Saint, we are reminded that our small island developed the reputation of An Island of Saints and Scholars. Ireland gained this reputation because of her devotion to the Catholic Faith, her learned monasteries and to the fact many of her monks went abroad to promote the Christian faith. Ireland has a new opportunity now to take center stage in the world in her defense of the sacredness of human life. So Rise up Ireland and show the world your love for God and for all human life! Give a lead to all nations.
